Director, Sales & Marketing

Mktg – Toronto, Ontario
Department Mktg
Employment Type Full time
Minimum Experience Senior Manager/Supervisor

Here’s our deal.

Retail is at a turning point. The wholesale industry is a trillion-dollar market split between 1.2MM retailers. In the past, the market had been dominated by big-box stores, largely selling the same products from the same national brands – but the consumer has changed.

Today, consumers are purchasing smaller, independent brands that are healthier, more environmentally friendly, more ethical. Consumers have moved their spending to independent retailers (both online and offline) who they share values with, and who provide the best curated selections of craft brands.

This is where Hubba comes in. We’re a marketplace that allows independent retailers to purchase products directly from the planet’s hottest craft brands to carry on their store shelves. We use a combination of machine learning and personal curation to match these retailers with their next best seller.

Here’s what the role’s about.

The success of our business is largely dependent on having an optimal mix of the world’s best craft brands and steady flow of independent retailers using Hubba to grow their businesses. The Director, Sales & Marketing is the individual charged with leading the supply and demand groups who will make this successful combination of brands/buyers a reality. This means:

  • Determining our merchandising strategy and executing against it – identifying the optimal amount, categories, and mix of brands to carry on our site, putting a plan in place to sign and make them successful.
  • Developing our demand-side acquisition plan – leading the delivery of new high-quality retailers into our site and placing wholesale orders.
  • Leading our marketing and promotions plan – identifying the optimal timing and mix of promotions and message to maximize transaction volume through our platform.
  • Crafting and optimizing our brand sell-through strategy – the programs and processes that ensure brands purchased on the site are selling through to the consumer.
  • Directing Hubba’s branding and positioning – creating and delivering the messaging that will resonate with our users.
