Retail is at a turning point. The wholesale industry is a trillion-dollar market split between 1.2MM retailers. In the past, the market had been dominated by big-box stores, largely selling the same products from the same national brands – but the consumer has changed.

 

Today, consumers are purchasing smaller, independent brands that are healthier, more environmentally friendly, more ethical. Consumers have moved their spending to independent retailers (both online and offline) who they share values with, and who provide the best curated selections of craft brands.

 

This is where Hubba comes in. We’re a marketplace that allows independent retailers to purchase products directly from the planet’s hottest craft brands to carry on their store shelves. We use a combination of machine learning and personal curation to match these retailers with their next best seller.

Here’s What The Role’s About.

 

The success of our business is largely dependent on identifying the right retailers, the right verticals and bringing these users on at scale to build more successful businesses via Hubba. Our growth team is the core of this engine – building campaigns to prospect these groups, developing compelling value propositions that showcase how Hubba can meet their needs, and driving new user conversion. The Growth Developer plays a critical role in making this happen through the intelligent use and implementation of technology, tools, and data. This means:

  • Implementing tailored, multi-channel campaigns that can have the ability to convert new retailers onto our platform
  • Drilling into data to make practical, actionable decisions around how we’re segmenting customers, and how we can use those insights to prospect new verticals or implement campaigns across new channels
  • Acting as the technical lead for growth campaigns– you’ll work with our agency to strategize and implement best-in-class campaigns
  • Identifying new technologies, tools, and approaches (and quickly mastering them) to optimize our growth outcomes

 

How the reporting structure works.

Reports to the Director, Sales & Marketing; individual contributor role.

Here’s what you need to be successful.

  • You’re a coder that lives for building – regardless of the programming language or approach (or whether professionally or as a hobbyist) you’re about creating real, tangible outcomes
  • You’re a creative (and an inquisitive self-starter) at heart – you don’t wait for instructions, but rather test-and-iterate on your many zany ideas to see what sticks and scale what works.
  • You’re a natural at learning (and mastering) web applications and tools – you pride yourself on becoming expert-tier at any tool you pick up
  • You care more about business results than technical elegance (or growth “tradition”) – you aren’t about building sophisticated/complex when there are simpler, more efficient alternatives. If one channel doesn’t work, you’re quick to switch gears and iterate/try something completely different – and aren’t shy about trying non-technical things (e.g. making phone calls) if it’s the best path to success.

 

Bonus Points For, But Not Necessary

  • You have a university degree in software engineering or computer science (for emphasis, this is optional – if you’ve gone through a bootcamp or have learned on your own, we want to hear from you!)
  • You have a solid foundation in data – you’re adept at creating SQL queries, working with data models and (more importantly) can use your data to create implementable improvements and results.
  • You have hands-on experience with marketing campaigns and adtech
  • You have worked with salesforce.com (CRM), salesforce.com Marketing Cloud (Email Marketing), or Outreach (SFA).
