Here’s our deal.

Retail is at a turning point.  The wholesale industry is a trillion-dollar market split between 1.2MM retailers.  In the past, the market had been dominated by big-box stores, largely selling the same products from the same national brands – but the consumer has changed.

Today, consumers are purchasing smaller, independent brands that are healthier, more environmentally friendly, more ethical.  Consumers have moved their spending to independent retailers (both online and offline) who they share values with, and who provide the best curated selections of craft brands.

This is where Hubba comes in.  We’re a marketplace that allows independent retailers to purchase products directly from the planet’s hottest craft brands to carry on their store shelves.  We use a combination of machine learning and personal curation to match these retailers with their next best seller.

Here’s what the role’s about.

The success of our users (both from the perspective of a brand and retailer) is primarily dependent on the simplicity and effectiveness of our product’s experience and design.  The Senior Product Designer is the individual charged with making this incredible experience a reality.  This is not a graphics design and branding role. You will be required to show a strong understanding of UX in B2B and marketplace environments and be in a delivery state of mind, producing design artifacts for the engineering process in a hands-on way.

This means:

  • Translating feature requirements into an effective, elegant design experience that delivers outcomes to the users and business.
  • Identifying key areas (working closely with the Product & Engineering team) for improvement in the holistic product experience for Hubba’s users – and formulating the optimal UX/UI that will make a material change for the better.
  • Owning and orchestrating the end-to-end design process – from requirements gathering/ideation through to testing/feedback loops/iteration and providing engineering with all deliverables.
  • Sharing, reviewing, and iterating on designs based on the feedback of the user, internal team, and UX best practices.
  • Contribute to and own the design system, to help scale your deliverables with consistency to the engineering team.

Here’s what you need to be successful.

  • You have 5+ years design experience working on complex web applications or SaaS products.
  • Understanding B2B processes, specifically experience in market places will assist and go a long way to shortening your ramp period in learning the key personas in the key user experiences.
  • You have extensive practical experience using Sketch; Zeplin or other design tools which will assist you in transitioning to using Sketch and Zeplin. Exposure to things like Figma, InVision etc is useful but not required.
  • You have strong business acumen and think strategically around how your designs can further the users’ and business’ objectives. You optimize for outcomes, not for elegance or personal preference.

What we offer.

We’re doing something big. The platform and company we’re building has a real global impact, and you’re getting in early enough to play a material part in our success.  The work you will do has a direct bearing on our trajectory and performance as a company.  Hubba will invest in you, help you be better and help you go further.

You’ll be surrounded and supported by some amazing people who are light on ego, high on curiosity, and are passionate about changing retail for the better.  The senior leadership are grown-ups who have built things before and are building a business, not a frat house or summer camp.

If you’re interested, let us know why we should talk. We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users.

Accommodations for people with disabilities are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
