Here’s the deal

We’re at a turning point in retail right now. The wholesale industry is a trillion-dollar market currently divided between 1.2 million retailers. The world is moving from a big box environment to a personalized, curated space where retailers are becoming storytellers and tastemakers rather than providers of plenty. This means that independent retailers need efficient ways of sorting through the clutter and getting the right products to their shelves. It also means that those independent retailers need to find ways of competing with the larger players.

That’s where Hubba comes in. We use a combination of machine learning and personal curation to match retailers with the right brands and products for their stores. We make the sourcing and discovery process easy and facilitate the process of getting the hottest new products onto independent retailer shelves.

What we’ll look for

SRE ensures that Hubba’s services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability and uptime appropriate to users' needs while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity and performance.

You will work with our development teams to ensure our platform is available and performing well for customers 24x7.  The role of the SRE is to own the quality of our platform and innovate with new tools and processes to ensure that Hubba users continue to have a seamless and delightful experience.

You can recognize manual steps you take to do deployments and handle errors and if you see them more than one you figure out how you never have to do it again.

  • Contributing to all aspects of the services under the team’s ownership, which includes design, implementation, refactoring, automated testing, deployment, and uptime of the services.

  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.

  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for change that improves reliability and velocity.

  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

  • Building the technology the right way: for us, this means simple, well-tested systems that gradually grow over time, and that provide plenty of insight into production performance.

  • Maintain updated documentation of systems, as needed

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and escalated as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good foundation in NodeJS & Python (other languages are an asset)

  • Experience with AWS & GCP

  • Containerization or docker experience

  • Experience with deployment

  • Passionate about what you do and care deeply about the things you build.

  • Able to clearly communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Has a good understanding of continuous delivery and automated testing.

We’re building a company with real impact and global scale, and you’re getting in early enough to make it your own. Your work is going to matter a lot. Hubba will invest in you, help you be better and help you go further.

If you’re interested in being a part of revolutionizing retail, let us know why we should talk. We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users. This is something we value deeply and we encourage everyone to come be a part of this!

Accommodations for people with disabilities are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
